Travel Tuesday: Mykonos Part I

Hi loves after a few days off with lovely posts from my sister and Meghan (thanks guys!), I'm back!  I'm still sore and recovering from surgery, but doing well.  Thank you so much for all of your well wishes and; for all of your kind words on this post.  You all are seriously the best!

Today is another fun Travel Tuesday and I am taking you on a visual trip to the island of Mykonos!  If you're new around here (first hello and thank you for stopping by!) I went to Greece for a few weeks at the end of May/beginning of June for school, and visited Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini; each Tuesday I'm taking you back with pictures and stories from my trip.  So we went to Mykonos after Athens and spent five days there.  It's such a gorgeous island and a place I would definitely love to go again.  I'm breaking up my pictures from our stay on Mykonos into 2 posts, so come back again next week to see the rest!
We took a super long ferry ride to get from Athens to Mykonos, which was actually really cool.  The ferry was huge, so big that if felt more like a cruise ship, and was an awesome way to travel.  Once we got close to the island we got antsy and went on the top of the boat to check out one of the other islands that we were stopping at before Mykonos, which is what the pictures above are (of course I cannot remember the of it though!).  I thought it was just such a perfect picturesque Greek island.
We stayed at the most beautiful hotel, which had amazing views - especially of the sunsets, but looking back at these pictures I feel like all of Mykonos has amazing views of the sunsets.  Our room had it's own little front porch that was so much fun to hang out on, and also wonderful to just sit on and take in the surroundings.  The two rooms next to us were people from our trip, which made it even better because it was like we had one big porch; we would just leave our doors open and go from room to room.  We lucked out, and were the only ones with these little porches so everyone would come to our places to hang out, which was an absolute blast especially at night!
We walked into the town near the hotel a lot for dinner and shopping.  I really loved the energy in Mykonos and there was so many great shops and restaurants.  We were even able to see the iconic windmills on our way into town while the sun was setting, which was perfect timing.
One day my class went to the island of Delos, which is an uninhabited island that you take a boat to from Mykonos.  Word of advice: if you ever go to Mykonos don't bother with Delos, it's hot, dusty, miserable, and just not worth it in my opinion (you're wasting time you could be spending on one of the prettiest islands in the world).  However, the marina that we took the boat out of to get to Delos was breathtaking, and had the most incredible views of the water, which is what is pictured above.

I feel like with how I had to leave Greece (if you missed that you can check it out here), it was kind of hard for me to think about the trip and look at all of these pictures initially (which is probably why it took me so long to start posting about it all).  However now that I am looking back I remember that it's such a beautiful place, and doing this post made me realize that Mykonos was by far my favorite place I went.  I would like to go back to Greece one day in the future, but I think just to Mykonos for a lazy and relaxing vacation.

Next Tuesday I'll have more pictures from my stay on Mykonos!
