Grab-a-Date & My Weekend

Thursday:
Last Thursday was my sorority Grab-a-Date social event.  I had a great time & danced my booty off.  I brought one of my best guy friends as my date, which was super fun!

Me & My Date.
I have the cutest sorority family & it was great to get to go out with them.  My big graduated last year & my twin brought her as her date, I was so happy to see her!

The whole fam, (left to right) my little, me, my big, my twin, my twin's little.
My side of the fam (left to right) my big, me, my little.

Aren't they so pretty?!  I totally loved the outfit I put together for this.  I'm a fail at blogger solo pictures so I had to get crafty to show off the whole ensemble.

Only pictures with my shoes in it, which I cut out from a group picture.
Only picture with my clutch in it.
Outfit Breakdown:
The Dress.
You may recognize this dress, as it is the one I wore to my first day of classes.  It is from Smak Parlour, which is a boutique in Philadelphia.  It's so versatile & I knew it would be great for a sorority social event.

The Shoes.
Nude platform pumps by Jessica Simpson that I got for a steal at TJ Maxx last year.
The Clutch.
I showcased this clutch in this post.  I fell in love with it & just had to get it!  I picked it up from DSW in the pale pink color & was so excited to get to wear it.  It's super roomy for a clutch, & also very chic.  I just went to get the link for it to share, but it is actually sold out now.
The Belt.
The dress has belt loops because it came with a silver belt.  I wasn't loving the silver belt with the shoes & clutch so I switched it to a basic black patten leather belt.
Weekend:
I tried to lay low for the weekend since I was exhausted from Grab-a-Date!  On Saturday my dad came up & I went to the Villanova vs. University of Pennsylvania football game with him.
This is our stadium.
It was a gorgeous day & we stayed at the game until half time when we left to get some dinner.  My dad left his phone at my apartment so he had to come back up Sunday to grab it.  The reason I am telling you this is because he decided to bring Coco along for the ride!  I love getting to see her & she cuddled with me while I worked on homework, that was a great end to my weekend.
How was your weekend?

15 Best Dressed Stars at the 2013 Emmy Awards

In honor of the Emmys last Sunday, this week instead of Friday's Celebrity Outfit of the Week, I decided to give a run down of my favorite dresses at the awards show.  There were countless dresses, some were big hits, other serious misses, & pictured here are my 15 favorite looks of the night.
1. Cobie Smulders in J. Mendel.  Smulders made a splash in a pale pink silk creation.
2. Rose Bryne in Calvin Klein Collection.  This might be my favorite dress of the whole night, Bryne got some slack for bearing her abs, but I think it looks great & was done in a tasteful way.
3. Julie Bowen in Zac Posen.  Some people thought this frothy confection was a little over done, but I thought it was a beautiful architectural piece of fashion.
4. Katie Aselton in Azzaro.  This Azzaro gown is gorgeous, from the plunging neckline to gem detailing this was spectacular.
5. Katrina Bowden in Badgley Mischka.  Bowden looks amazing in this navy blue dress that compliements her body, skin tone, & hair color smashingly.
6. Maria Menounos in Zac Posen.  The Extra host took a gorgeous simple gown that she glammed up with dazzling accessories.
7. Allison Williams in Ralph Lauren Collection.  Another simple gown that looked stunning, with much thanks to it's buzzed about beautiful hue.
8. Giuliana Rancic in Mikael D.  I was surprised with Rancic's pick, but happily surprised because it looked amazing on her.
9. Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang.  The always sexy Vergara shows off her best asset in this dress--her sense of style!
10. Kaley Cuoco in Vera Wang.  From the color to the silhouette,Vera Wang created a beautiful dress that looked stunning on Cuoco.
11. Malin Akerman in Marchesa.  Marchesa is one of my favorite designers & their creation that Akerman is wearing just furthers my love for them.
12. Taylor Schilling in Thakoon.  Schilling looks fabulous in this custom high neck gown that really allows her gold accessories to be shown.
13. Emilia Clarke in Donna Karan Atelier.  I believe my favorite part of this dress is it's unique belt, which got many fashionistas buzzing.
14. Sarah Hyland in CH Carolina Herrera.  While she didn't choose to wear one of the color trends of the night, Hyland looks great in this gown!  I'm in love with it from it's rich emerald hue to the pretty lace overlay & everything in between.

15. Lauren Parsekian in unknown.  I searched high & low to find the designer of this beautiful nude frock, but was unsuccessful.  I think Parsekian is so gorgeous, & I love this whole look.

So what were your thoughts on the Emmy dresses?  Which was your favorite of the night?

Who doesn't want to look like Jessica Alba?  More importantly who doesn't covet her style?  She is insanely gorgeous & wears incredible clothing to compliment that.  She has her casual denim looks so down pat that people.com named her 2012's Denim Style Setter of the Year.  Not only does Jessica rock more relaxed looks, but she hits it out of the park on the red carpet, where she's tried everything from metallics to florals to flowy gowns.  She is also never afraid to experiment with her hair with long & short cuts, & light & dark colors, always looking fabulous.  Jessica Alba has such perfect & enviable style that it's a no brainer to be obsessed with it.

Style File: Slouchy Sweaters

To start off today I have a random side note: I have finally found something I do not like about fall.  I learned on Monday night that fall is the time of year that little creatures *cough*mice*cough* find their way into college dorms.  When the girl living in the apartment that that little creature finds its way into sees said mouse she may run down the hall to her RA's room in an oversized tshirt with no bra & coconut oil in her hair (since it most likely will happen at 11:00 pm when she is getting ready to shower) & burst into tears in the hall outside the door over this little creature (btw this was totally not me at all).  The moral of this little hypothetical story is that I have found a downfall to my favorite season.

Top: Topshop / UniqloUniqlo /

Slouchy sweaters are a must have for fall and winter.  They are super cozy, but with the right sweater & when styled the right way they can look super chic.  Comfortable + Pretty = Amazing in my book!  Pair a sweater with leggings or super skinny jeans, & ballet flats or boots for an easy outfit.  Lauren Conrad, one of my Celebrity Style Obsessions, is a big fan of these cozy staples & pairs them with an array of pants and shoes to make completely different outfits.  The sweaters pictured above each feature something different a pattern, a pop of color, elbow patches etc., & are super cute.  I love them all, but my favorite would have to be the leopard one by Pull & Bear, an English clothing company.  Pull on one for class, work, dinner with friends, a movie night & so much more, the slouchy sweater is a versatile piece that you can wear so many different places, & use to keep warm through the colder months.

Which sweater is your favorite?

Fall 2013 Makeup Trends

So everyone knows there are always new clothing trends for every season, but not everyone knows that there are new makeup trends as well.  I'm doing a whole week of fall posts this week, & decided to cover my favorite season's makeup trends today.  The always helpful Harper's Bazaar website is my source for today's trend report.

1. Cat Eyes
Seen on the catwalk at many shows pictured is a model at Kenzo.  Harper's Bazaar says that "CoverGirl makeup artist Pat McGrath layered liquid and pencil liners in a dramatic winged shape, then dotted below the lashline for an avant-garde edge".  Try Lancome Artliner Precision Point Eyeliner in the color of your choice.

2. Orange-y Shadow
Shown here on a model at BCBG, "the reddish brown was used as a neutral to sculpt and shade around the eyes, while at Altuzarra, makeup artist Tom Pecheux, working with MAC, blended the shade 'downward through the lower lashline. It gives a vibrant but diffused strength to the eye,' he said".  Try NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Mediteranee.

3. Red Lips
At Marc Jacobs (shown here), "Shiseido makeup artist Dick Page layered two glosses for a lustrous, opaque sheen".  Try Marc Jacobs Beauty Lovemarc- Lip Gel in Neo-Noir.
4. Prune Eyes
Modeled here at Giles, this shade was shown done light & very heavy.  I like the smokey eye look pictured below, but if you are looking for something a little less dramatic (& more appropriate for day) prep eyes with a mix of pale bronzy/tan shadows from lash line to brow bone, then softly apply a plum eyeshadow to your eyelids, & finish by coating your lashes with mascara.  Try Too Faced Boudior Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection to get the look.

5. Glittery Eyes
Of this look Bazaar says, "Is there a woman among us who doesn’t love a little bling—especially as an eye-enhancing accent? At Donna Karan [shown here], MAC makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury mixed pearly glitter into black-grey cream shadow".  I recommend going for a less severe look then pictured, the Too Faced Glamour To Go Palette has some very pretty highly glittery shadows.

6. Wine Lips
Who doesn't love a glass of red wine in the fall?  Better who doesn't want a wine colored pout, like shown here at Vera Wang.  Try Too Faced La Creme in Divine Wine.

7. Gray Eyeshadow
"Forget smoky eyes. The slate gray finish on lids this season was sheerer and more mysterious, like a post-storm mist or a moody fog" says Bazaar.  Try Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow in No 52 5th Avenue.

These are all the makeup trends that you should be trying right now!  Which is your favorite?

What to Wear: Fall

If you couldn't already tell by this post, fall is my absolute favorite season.  There are so many great reasons to love fall, but three of my favorite reasons are: scarves, sweaters, & boots.  I've been waiting all summer for it to be just chilly enough to wear all three.   Since yesterday was the first official day of fall I thought it would be nice to put together a cozy outfit for when it starts to a little cold out.  This outfit is something I would wear to class, a casual day at work, or to a mid day football game.  I am obsessed with this sweater it's cozy, oversized, & I love the cream color.  Since it's long it's great to wear with leggings, I had no clue that Kate Spade made them, but now I want a pair of hers!  Pulling  on over the knee socks over your leggings, in the same color as the sweater, adds something extra to the outfit, leave them peaking out just above these adorable flat leather boots.  Finish your outfit off with accessories that add some color, a bright infinity scarf (bonus: it keeps you extra warm!), bold earrings in a complementing color, & finally an ornate ring.  I'm really liking this outfit, & will definitely be wearing something like it soon!

What is your favorite fall item to wear?

TGIF

Friday's Celebrity Outfit of the Week
Kate Bosworth in Stella McCartney at Bulgari Retrospective Opening in San Francisco, CA.

Kate Bosworth looks ahhhhmazing in this chic Stella McCartney body con dress.  She accessorized with oodles of gorgeous diamonds on her wrists & hanging from her ears, presumably from Bulgari.  Kate finished off the look with a black clutch & basic pointy toe black pumps.  While at first glance this outfit may seem simple with all the black, it is anything but.  Kate knows the power of a LBD & this look really puts all the spotlight on her dazzling diamonds.  There were so many great celeb looks this week, but I loved Bosworth's so much that I could not get it out of my head, & knew it was my favorite of them all.

For #backthatazzupfriday I bring you Lady Gaga's latest song that I am loving right now.  It's a great song that is fun to dance to, & will hopefully start off your weekend right!

Applause by Lady Gaga on Grooveshark
This weekend is Parent's Weekend at my school & I cannot wait for all the fun over the next few days.  What are your plans for the weekend?
