Tuesday Ten: Beauty Websites

So if you've been on here before you probably know that I am a bit of a beauty addict and a major beauty product hoarder.  I think beauty is the perfect extension of fashion, and I love how it can be used to transform you.  My absolute favorite part about beauty though is skincare, I find it to be so much fun and I love how you can see the results of what you're doing.

Since I love beauty so much I spend a lot of time doing research on it (it helps me to relax!) for personal knowledge and to get inspiration for here.  I definitely have my go-to websites for when I'm looking to do some reading and today I'm sharing my ten favorites.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Byrdie
Byrdie is the beauty division of Who What Wear, and my number one go-to when I want to read beauty articles.  They cover all beauty topics and often feature pieces on celebrity beauty.  Their articles are always super informative and they have the best"how-to" tutorials.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Into the Gloss
Into the Gloss is the beauty blog behind the new beauty brand Glossier.  I especially love their skincare articles and their unique pieces like this recent one on an adorable little pharmacy in NYC.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Refinery 29
I enjoy all of the topics that Refinery 29 writes on, but my favorite part of the website is of course their beauty section.  In this section they share the latest beauty trends and breaking beauty news in addition to celebrity interviews and product reviews.  You can also find beauty stories in Refinery 29's Snapchat 'Discovery' section.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allure
Allure was the first "grown up" magazine I ever bought myself and I subscribed to it for years.  Since going away to school I had to cancel my subscription, but I love going on the website to read stories from the magazines and others that don't make it into print.  Allure is the "The Beauty Expert" and they always give great information and advice.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Beauty Department
The Beauty Department was created by Lauren Conrad and her beauty gurus Amy Nadine and Kristin Ess.  They always have the best tutorials for hair, makeup, and nails, and make their looks easy to recreate.  This website is just like chatting with a super knowledgable best friend!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Zoe Report
The beauty section of Rachel Zoe's website falls in line with Zoe's aesthetic.  This site discusses beauty as an extension of fashion and a part of a chic lifestyle that The Zoe Report will help you to create.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lauren Conrad
Like Zoe's website, the Primp section on Lauren Conrad's blog falls into line with her lifestyle aesthetic.  Primp features new articles every few days so I check it less frequently than other sites I've listed.  The info on here makes you feel like you're getting article straight from a guru on living a girly chic lifestyle, and really you are since Conrad writes a lot of the articles herself!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Coveteur
I typically land up on the beauty section of The Coveteur as a result of their awesome Pinterest account (check it out here).  The Coveteur always gives a look at the latest in beauty and shares beauty stories about the most sought after influencers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barefoot Blonde
Barefoot Blonde always has the most amazing hair tutorials and Amber Fillerup Clark is known for her gorgeous braids.  Whenever I'm looking to try a new hairstyle or am bored and looking to play with my hair I head to this blog.  You can also find other posts on beauty here in which Amber writes about products, tips, and more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Violet Grey
Violet Grey is my new favorite beauty website that I actually found on Into the Gloss.  The Violet Files is the beauty magazine from Violet Grey a super luxe beauty retailer.  Articles include celebrity profiles, influencer beauty routines, beauty lessons, and more.

Do you love any beauty websites that I haven't mentioned here?  If you do let me know so I can check them out!

Graduation Style

1  |  2  |  3  |  4  |  5  |  6  |  7  |  8

With May only a few weeks away the time of year for graduations is coming.  This year I am graduating from college and cannot stop thinking about what I am going to wear!  I have two ceremonies for graduation, which means I need two dresses.  I thought that since I've been looking at so many dresses lately it would be fun to share some of my favorite picks for anyone in the same boat as me or for someone who is attending a ceremony as a spectator.

The other day when SHOPBOP was having their Friends & Family Sale I order this dress and cannot wait for it to come in.  I wanted something blue since that's our school color and I like how the dress is simple, yet chic.  I also have my eye on #3 from above for my second dress.  I'm really wanting something pink for my second dress because it's my favorite color and I love the fit and flare silhouette of this one.

As you can see for graduation dresses I favor pretty colors, especially pastels, because of the time of year.  I also feel like such a special occasion calls for something a little bit more than just a sundress.  While I really love all of my picks from above and (aside from the dresses I got for myself) my absolute favorites are #2 because of the beautiful color and gorgeous lace and #4 for its off the shoulder style and springy hue.  Pair your dress with a light colored wedge or pair of heels, some pretty jewels, and you're all set!

SHOP THE POST HERE:

Which dress is your favorite?  Are you graduating or attending any graduations this year?  Let me know below!

Friday Favorites

Favorite Moment Villanova Wins the National Championship
Last week I wrote about how excited I was that my school's basketball team was going to the Final Four, well we won that game and on Monday night we won the National Championship too!  This week has been a complete whirlwind because of the win and it has been so, so, so much fun!  The energy on campus is indescribable and has been amazing.  We actually got off school on Tuesday to celebrate and welcome the team back, and classes were canceled for tomorrow too for a parade for the team.  This has definitely been one of the best parts of my college experience and something I'll always remember!

This article from Byrdie has five great tips for super easy ways to style and take care of your hair.  Byrdie went straight to the source for these tips and hit up five supermodels with gorgeous hair!  I'm really loving these tips and can't wait to try them out.

Favorite Funny Late Night Reacts to Villanova's Win
The reaction of late night television hosts' to Villanova's big win are absolutely hysterical.  If you're looking for a good laugh this is a must watch!

Favorite New Snapchat Jessica Garvin
Jessica Garvin of Little Baby Garvin has been one of my favorite bloggers for quite some time.  She is seriously #momgoals and has the cutest little daughters.  This week she made her Snapchat public (@jessicagarvin) and has great posts.  I always think it's super fun to see the behind the scenes real lives of bloggers and Jessica shows that with her Snapchat!

Yesterday my Mom and I stopped into Old Navy "just to look around," but we each landed up walking away with a few purchases because there were so many cute pieces.  I did some damage and got two pairs of shoes (here and the other pair isn't online), two rompers (here and here), two sweaters (here and here), and a tote bag (here) all for a little over $100!  These flats were my favorite purchase and a steal at only $19.97!  I can see myself wearing these all spring and summer long and am really hoping it's warm enough next week to wear them.

March 2016 on Instagram

Another month has come and gone, but the really crazy thing (for me) is now that March is over graduation is only a few weeks away.  March has been a whirlwind month - from Spring Break to Easter to March Madness, there has been a lot going on!  I of course documented the month on Instagram and below I have a recap of my March in pictures.  If you're not following me (@theblushblonde) make sure to do that now!

I kicked off March with an awful sinus infection and virus in my throat that left me stuck in bed for all of Spring Break.  Thankfully I was home so my parents could take care of me and I could cuddle in bed with Coco.  To be honest I think that Coco was secretly happy that I had to spend the whole week in bed!

I took this when I got back to school after Spring Break.  There are so many trees on campus and my favorites are the ones that bloom with pink flowers.  These were some of the first trees to bloom so I had to get a picture.

One of my friends got these for me for my birthday and I think they are just the cutest!  In my opinion handwritten notes are so special and need to be a more frequent occurrence.

Another one of my friends got me this adorable hot pink S'well bottle for my birthday and it matches my sneakers (similar pair I love here) perfectly!

This is my very first Rocksbox and I love it!  You can read about what was in my Rocksbox here and use the code THEBLUSHBLONDEXOXO to get one month free for yourself!

I've been doing this new thing where I share one quote I like every month on Instagram.  I think that this one is so fun and I love its message.

I posted this throwback when my school's basketball team won their Sweet Sixteen game in the NCAA Tournament.  The Tournament has been so much fun this year and we played in the National Championship game last night and WON!!!  To say I'm excited is an understatement and the energy on campus has been amazing.  I'll be documented all the fun on Snapchat so make sure to follow me - kthomp22.

Every year we dress Coco up in her bunny costume for Easter.  She's not the biggest fan of it so we only keep it on her for a few minutes, but it's just too cute not to document!

Snap Custom Pizza is a restaurant near school that makes some of the best pizza I've ever had.  They have a few locations in the Philadelphia area so if you live near there I highly recommend checking it out.  The gluten free pizza that they make is so, so good and my sister and I stopped there when we got back from being home for Easter.

I got this picture last week when I was leaving class.  More and more of the trees are blooming, which makes it feel so spring-y on campus!  Spring and fall are my favorite times of the year at school because the trees always look so pretty.

So this was my March in pictures!  Come check me out on Instagram (@theblushblonde) and follow along with me to see more of what's here!  How was your March?

Friday Favorites

Favorite Event Villanova Going to the Final Four
Last Saturday night Villanova Men's Basketball Team won their Elite Eight game, making them the South Regional Champions in the NCAA Tournament and securing a spot in the Final Four.  Villanova has a short Easter break so almost everyone was home during the win, but since we've been back the energy on campus has been amazing.  People are going crazy with excitement and I cannot wait to watch them play this Saturday night!  Go Cats!

Favorite Spring Look Kim Le
This look from Kim Le of Lace & Locks is perfect for Spring.  I am especially in love with her skirt - it's feminine, chic, and just my style.  It's also only $34 from ASOS and I may just have to get it for myself.  I love how Kim pairs it with stripes and keeps the rest of her look neutral.

Favorite Art Flamingo Fun
I found this adorable flamingo watercolor when I was on Pinterest and I am loving it!  I feel like this painting is great for getting into the mood for Spring and would make a super cute computer background.

Favorite Decor Pastel Bathroom
This is seriously my dream bathroom!  I love the pale pink walls and that clawfoot tub is so much fun.  I don't have anything to decorate right now, but I always like looking for inspiration in gorgeous rooms like this one.

Favorite Celebrity Looks Kristen Bell, Nikki Reed, & Lauren Conrad
I loved all three of these looks and couldn't pick just one favorite!  Kristen Bell wore Reem Acra to the premiere of The Boss in Westwood, CA and looked absolutely stunning.  Nikki Reed wore Catherine Deane to WonderCon in Los Angeles and looked gorgeous.  Last but not least, Lauren Conrad wore a beautiful cream dress to a signing for her new book in Ridgewood, NJ and looked super chic.
