Keep Warm in a Cape

The Limited  |  Mango  |  Zara

With the cold weather approaching fast it's time to get some pretty outerwear to keep you warm well into winter and a cape is perfect for just that!  I've loved capes for a while, but that has furthered with my Scandal obsession and all the fabulous clothes - including capes, that Olivia Pope wears.  Above I have the cape from The Limited Scandal Collection, which is beautiful, and a few other ones that I love. Any of these can be worn over any outfit for a pretty and put together look.  In a cape you will definitely stand out from the crowd and your fashionista status will be sealed.  So when the temperatures really drop, make sure to reach for a cape to help keep you warm and looking cute! Which cape pictured is your favorite?

Five Friday Confessions

 One
I confess that I have been super lazy this week and have been taking full advantage of my October Break.  I've been sleeping in, spending some quality time with the couch, and ignoring my homework. It is definitely going to be difficult to get back into the swing of school next week!

 Two
I confess that I have no motivation to do my homework.  Usually I do homework at the beginning of the break to get it over with, but this break I decided to put it off and now I have to do it.  Wish me good luck on finding that motivation!

 Three
I confess that when I got an email about class registration this week that I was completely confused. I can't believe that it is already time to pick out classes for next semester, I also can't believe how fast the current semester is going!  Time flies when you're having fun.

 Four
I confess that I'm really excited for Halloween this year!  I had a great time last year as a Flapper, and this year I am going to be a pilot.  I'm thinking of adjusting the costume I got though and making it more of a flight attendant look because I don't like the hat that came with the costume.

 Five
I confess that I am unreasonably excited that Blake Lively is pregnant.  Blake is perfect, Ryan Reynolds is perfect, Blake and Ryan together are perfect,  and therefore their baby is going to be perfect. End crazy lady rant.
I leave you with a pic of Blake's first red carpet appearance since announcing her news.

Have a great weekend!

Transfer Tips from Baby Hawk, Big Campus

Hi everyone my name is Bridget! I’m excited to be taking over for Kristin yet again and would love for you to check out my other posts here and here so you can get to know me better. I recently transferred from Rosemont College to Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, and am now living up on Hawk Hill, which is actually right up the street from Kristin. For my Communications class, I had to start a blog and decided to make it about my experience transferring colleges and myself. On my blog you can find advice about transferring schools, how to make the decision, and more. At this point, I consider myself a pro on the topic because it basically overtook my life last year!

Here's how things went for me last year: I was a going to be a Freshmen at the school I had picked, and I was really excited about all the new experiences that I would be having. Then I got to school and it was not at all what I expected or what I wanted. My roommate was awful, the food was worse than I ever imagined, and something just wasn't right; these were just a few of the problems I ran into during the first three weeks of my Freshmen year. I knew within those first three weeks that the I had picked the wrong school for me; it was nothing like I had hoped it would be. As a result of all of this I decided early in the semester that I wanted to transfer. While it was an easy decision to make, what came after was not: I was trying to adjust to being away from home, not have my parents telling me what to do, and all of the distractions that come with living in a dorm. I was on my own for the first time ever and trying to deal with hating where I was on top of all of that. All of the aforementioned was a lot to handle and very overwhelming. If you're feeling the same way that I was and don't know where to start, here is some advice:

1. Make a list about what you want in a college, at this point you know better then you did senior year of high school because you now know what you don't like.

2. Talk to your parents or family. They can be helpful and supportive, and want what is best for you!

3. Make a list of potential schools, it's important to remember that it is sometimes easier to transfer into a college than it is to apply to be a freshmen.

4. Research the schools on your list, including taking tours of the campuses if you can.

5. Give yourself deadlines for applying! This was big for me because I knew it would be easy to blow it off, but I knew I had to complete all my applications in order to transfer.

6. Apply to at least three schools so you have options and backup plans!

The most important thing to remember when looking to transfer is to remember to breath and that you're not alone. You can do this and it will all be worth it when you are at a school that you love.

This is a sample of the types of posts you can find on my blog!  It was great doing a guest post today and don't forget to check out my blog Baby Hawk, Big Campus.

Girl Crush: Kendall Jenner

You may know from this post earlier in the year that I am not a fan of Kim Kardashian.  However, while I may be so over Kim it doesn't mean I'm not a fan of other members of the Kardashian/Jenner family.  Kendall Jenner is my favorite member of the whole crazy bunch.  So today I'm confessing that Kendall is my latest girl crush and below I'm going to tell you why.

1. She is insanely gorgeous.
Kendall is a so pretty and it's no wonder she's been super successful in the modeling world as a result.  I like that Kendall is a more natural beauty then other members of her family (*cough*Kim*cough*) and that she doesn't wear tons of makeup.

2. She has great style.
Kendall always looks fabulous and has her model off duty look down pact.  Her style ranges from edgy to girly to bohemian and more, making her a fashion chameleon.  She is definitely someone to look to for style inspiration when putting together an outfit.

3. She is seemingly the most calm member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan.
If you watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians then you've probably noticed that Kendall isn't as crazy as the rest of her family.  She seems to be more shy and reserved, which I think is a good thing for her!

4. She is a hard worker.
Kendall has been busting her butt with modeling.  She can often be seen running around on castings, traveling, and on photo shoots.  She has been putting a lot of time into her career and it seems to be really paying off.

5. She is an accomplished model.
She was a fixture on the catwalks during numerous fashion weeks, and has booked campaigns such as Givenchy, which are great accomplishments. In addition to the aforementioned Kendall has been on the cover of multiple magazines, which is huge.

6. She takes risks.
Kendall isn't afraid to take risks for her career.  She has gotten naked in the name of fashion quite a few times, and knows that nude can be tasteful.  I like that she's stuck to high fashion jobs and has taken the necessary risks for them.

7. She has tried to separate herself from famous family in order to work in the high fashion world.
I like that Kendall doesn't like to use her name to book jobs.  In the snippet above it explains how she prefers to go by Kendall instead of Kendall Jenner to separate herself from her famous family so that she can get jobs on her own.  Now we all know that she does get jobs because of who she is, but I like that she is trying to do her own thing and forge her own path.

8. She has fun.
It seems like Kendall loves what she does, loves her family, and loves her life.  It's awesome that she has fun working hard and doing what she wants to do.  Happiness is the best measure of success and how could she not be happy with the life she has?

So these are the reasons why I love Kendall Jenner and think she is girl crush worthy.  What do you think?

Fall Mood Board

In case you couldn't tell from yesterday's post I'm super inspired by Fall lately.  How could I not be, it's the most wonderful season there is!  Here is my full fall inspiration board.

Color Palette:
For Fall I'm all about pretty jewel tones like maroon, crimson, and navy.  I associate dark colors with the colder months, and I am happy to break out these shades after wearing lighter and brighter colors all summer.

Scent:
I'm allergic to pumpkin, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy smelling it!  I've been seeing everyone's Bath & Body Works Candles on Instagram and they look like they smell heavenly.  I can't have candles at school, but I'm home this week and enjoying all of my Mom's pumpkin candles!

Accessory:
I've been seeing floppy brim fedoras on so many fashion blogs lately and I am loving this look.  I'm a big hat person for when it gets cold out and I think I need to add one in this style to my hat collection.

Nail Polish:
Lincoln Park After Dark by OPI is a staple for Fall.  Painting this shade on short square nails makes for an incredibly chic look.  At any given time during Fall or Winter you can most likely find this on my nails!

Makeup:
Oxblood Lips are very big for Fall and you can see just how much I love them here.

Shoes:
While boots are great for Fall, booties are a bit unexpected and I think look even cuter.  They're are so many different styles like this pair from Dolce Vita.

Lusting Over:
If you saw this post then you know how much I love plaid scarves for Fall.  I really want to get a large plaid blanket scarf that I can wear all winter long.  Bonus: they're super cozy and warm!

Loving:
Chunky knit sweaters are my favorite to wear all Fall long.  I love throwing them on with leggings and booties for a cozy chic look.

Decoration:
Pumpkins are the perfect Fall decoration.  There are so many pretty pumpkin designs out there that it can be hard to choose just one, however this year I am loving gold or metallic pumpkins like the ones pictured here!

So what are your Fall inspirations?

Pinterest Loves

So long time, no see.  I haven't been here in about a week and then I show up late to the game today. Last week I had midterms at school and was beyond stressed out, so I decided to call out for the week as a blogger.  I needed to focus on my studying and get through the week, so I used up my imaginary one week blogging vacation.  This week is October Break aka a week to rest, relax, and blog up a storm.  I missed it here very much and am so happy to be back!  So starting today we will be back to our regular programing folks, new posts will be up 4-5 days a week!

Today I'm bringing you the Pinterest pins that I have been loving lately.  I have pins that cover all my favorite categories - fashion, beauty, crafting and recipes.  Without any further ado, here's what has been pinspiring me!

Fashion

Sweater Dresses
With the coolness of Fall in the air I have been swooning over sweater dresses.  Recently I've pinned quite a few different sweater dress looks onto my Dreamy Dresses board.  The thing I love about this look is that it is very versatile and can go from Fall all through Winter - you can go with bare legs while it's still warmer out, then add tights or leggings when it gets colder.  A sweater dress paired with boots has definitely been my favorite combination.

Pale Pink
Pale pink is an unexpected color for Fall and Winter, which is why I love it!  I'm a major pink girl so I love that I've seen so many pins of pale pink and blush coats and sweaters for the upcoming months.  If you're not a huge pink person, but like the color start small with pale pink earrings or a necklace to dip your toes in the trend.

Beauty
As a beauty addict I always love finding things to pin to my many beauty boards.  I always love beautiful braids for my Hairstyles board, any kind of natural products like this body butter for my Skin Care board, and nude nail polish looks for my Mani/Pedi board.

Crafts
I've been seeing so many really fun crafts on Pinterest that I am just dying to make!  (Now I just need the time to get them all done!)  If I had to narrow it down to just three to make it would be this DIY tassel blanket, any pumpkin decorating craftsand these fun glitter dipped cups that I've pinned to my Creative board.

Recipes
Pinterest is my favorite place to find different recipes because there are so many amazing ones to choose from.  Right now my mouth is watering over these red velvet pancakes with cream cheese frosting from my Morning Eats board, roasted brussels sprouts with garlic aioli from my Feed Me board, and cheesecake egg rolls from my Something Sweet board.

These are my latest Pinterest obsessions.  What are yours?
