Girl Crush: Taylor Swift

Long time no see!  Last week I got hit by a crazy migraine that completely knocked me out.  I've gotten a handful of migraines in the past, but I usually just turn off all the lights and go to sleep for a few hours and it feels better or is completely gone when I wake up.  Unfortunately this one started last Sunday and I only felt back to myself this past Sunday (thankfully in time for Easter!).  I was so sad that I couldn't get any posts up while I was sick, and to be honest I'm not really sure how I even put together last Monday's post.  I'm so happy to be back to normal though and will be posting every day for the rest of the week so make sure to check back!

Today we're talking about someone I have a serious girl crush on, and in my opinion the ultimate girl crush: Taylor Swift.  Over the years we've seen Taylor go from country sweetheart to bonafide pop superstar.  Although she is one of the most famous people on the planet she still remains humble and is the type of girl everyone wants to hang out with.  She has so many amazing qualities and I'm going to tell you why she's my current girl crush.

1. She breaks barriers.

At twenty-one Taylor was only the second woman to win CMA Entertainer of the Year twice and at twenty-six she was the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice.  I have a feeling that she will be breaking even more records in the future!

2. She's a girl's girl.

Taylor is known for her amazing girl squad and creating a community of women that support one another.  In addition to this she and her friends do all things girly from birthday parties to baking cookies to shopping and more!

3. She's a good friend.

She has countless friends that are actually her friends, not just "Hollywood friends."  She's always there to support them and help them out.  She is seriously a dream bestie!

4. She stays true to herself.

Taylor does whatever she wants regardless of what people say.  She embraces her quirks and doesn't let the haters stop her from doing her thing.

5. She has amazing style.

6. She is incredibly talented.

She's an amazing singer/songwriter/musician and she can even act.

7. She's close to her family.

No matter how famous she gets Taylor never forgets her family.  She can often be seen with her younger brother, Mom, and Dad.  Family is super important to her and you can tell it always will be.

8. She always has fun.

She's not afraid to goof off and have a good time even in serious situations.

9. She's generous.

Taylor makes countless donations to fans and charities every year.  Additionally, she frequently takes time out of her busy schedule to meet with fans, especially those suffering from illnesses.

10.She kicks ass.

Taylor doesn't just kick ass in her Bad Blood music video, but in real life too.  She doesn't let haters get her down, not even famous ones like Kanye West.  Her 2016 Grammy speech is just one example of this, she slammed Kanye West for his crude lyrics (without actually mentioning him) and took a stand for women everywhere.

Girl Crush: Olivia Culpo

Since she won Miss USA and then became the first Miss USA in fifteen years to win Miss Universe Olivia Culpo has been a star on the rise.  From the time she began her reign as Miss Universe Culpo has attended countless red carpet events and has steadily modeled for campaigns with companies such as HauteLook.  Since her crowning as Miss USA I have been a huge fan of Olivia's and love seeing all that she's accomplished, I definitely have a girl crush on her and am going to tell you why!

1. She is very ambitious.

While in college at Boston University Culpo signed with a Boston modeling agency and balanced modeling with her studies.  In 2012 she entered her first pageant and while wearing a dress she rented she won the title of Miss Rhode Island.  After this she went on to win both Miss USA and Miss Universe.  She went from a college student entering her first pageant to becoming an international beauty queen, which to me is extremely ambitious.

2. She's smart.

Olivia started college at Boston University and attended until 2012 when she was crowned Miss USA and put her studies on hold in order to fulfill her duties as Miss USA and Miss Universe.  While there she studied Communications. (Image via)

3. She is talented.

Culpo is a talented cello player.  She started playing when she was in second grade and excelled as a player.  She spent two summers at the super prestigious Brevard Music Center and has played with the Bay View Orchestra, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble, the Rhode Island All-State Orchestra, and the Boston Accompanietta.

4. She's crazy beautiful.

It's no wonder that Olivia won every pageant she entered and has continued to model since her time as Miss Universe ended, she is so pretty.  Her dark brown eyes and glossy brunette locks come together to create a girl who is beyond gorgeous!

5. She is quite sassy.

Her Instagram is filled with sassy quotes, memes and post captions.  I love how her personality comes through in these posts and that she seems like a friend I want to hang out with.

6. The Girl Can Cook.

Olivia seems to cook quite a lot and is always documenting her latest creations on Instagram.  My favorite part about her cooking is that she writes the recipes in the captions of her food photos!  Her food always looks delicious and it's so great that she gives the option to make it too.  She also always puts a healthy spin on what she's making her food, which is something I love.

7. She's very stylish.

No matter where she's photographed Culpo always has the cutest outfit is definitely one to watch in terms of fashion. Her look is a mix of feminine and classy pieces with trendy and sexy pieces mixed in.  Her style is constantly evolving and I can't wait to see the looks she wears in the future.

8. She has a lot of fun.

Olivia's Instagram has so many fun shots of her with her friends.  She seems to always have a great time no matter where she's at and just looks like she's always having a blast.

Girl Crush: Gigi Hadid

Lately it seems like Gigi Hadid has been everywhere, I had been noticing her for about a year now, but her presence has really increased lately.  This may have to do with the fact that her modeling work has steadily been increasing and right now it has really taken off with her work with Sports Illustrated, her new Maybelline contract, and more.  Gigi Hadid is pretty much perfect so today I'm confessing that she is latest my girl crush and telling you why!

1. She has incredible style.

Whether she's on the red carpet, between modeling jobs, or out with friends Gigi always looks chic. In addition to consistently looking fabulous, she is a style chameleon and always willing to try new looks, which really pays off.

2. She is absolutely gorgeous.

There is no denying that Gigi is one of the prettiest models around.  Of her good looks her portfolio on IMG says, "Hadid is an international hybrid of California-cool, all long blond tresses and sun-kissed skin, paired with exotic blue-green eyes and cherubic features, a reflection of her Palestinian parentage."

3. She's a good friend.

Ok, so I don't actually know this for a fact, but she is always surrounded by so many fabulous ladies that she just has to be a great friend!  Does anyone else want to be her newest bestie?!

4. She is very family oriented.

Gigi comes from a big family and seems to be quite close with them.  Her mother is Yolanda Foster, a former model and current Real Housewife, and her father is Mohamed Hadid, a real estate developer, both of who she is regularly seen with; her parents are divorced and her mother is remarried to David Foster, a music producer, who Gigi has been seen out with as well.  She has a younger sister and brother who are often featured on her Instagram, and several step siblings, above she is pictured with her step sister Sara and step niece Valentina.

5. She has been super successful.

Gigi is one of the top models of the moment and her success has been building over time.  In the past she has worked with Guess and Tom Ford, and for Spring 2015 she has campaigns with Guess, Seafolly, and Maybelline.  In addition to these contracts she has been featured in countless magazines such as Harper's Bazaar and Sports Illustrated, and is Vogue España's March covergirl.  

6. She has an insane body.

With a body like this it's no wonder that Gigi has been in the last two Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Editions.  She has one of those model bodies that makes me want to run to the gym so I can get more toned and just into overall better shape.  I would seriously kill for abs like hers!  

7. She's the perfect California girl.

Gigi hails from Los Angeles and just oozes West Coast coolness.  With her sandy blonde locks, sun kissed skin, and cool blue eyes she is the ideal California girl next door.  Her SoCal roots can also be seen at times in her fashion choices and are very apparent when she is at the beach.

8. She just seems really cool.

From what I've seen Gigi just seems like a really cool girl.  She seems happy with her life and career (how could she not be?!), and is definitely a star on the rise!

Girl Crush: Kendall Jenner

You may know from this post earlier in the year that I am not a fan of Kim Kardashian.  However, while I may be so over Kim it doesn't mean I'm not a fan of other members of the Kardashian/Jenner family.  Kendall Jenner is my favorite member of the whole crazy bunch.  So today I'm confessing that Kendall is my latest girl crush and below I'm going to tell you why.

1. She is insanely gorgeous.

Kendall is a so pretty and it's no wonder she's been super successful in the modeling world as a result.  I like that Kendall is a more natural beauty then other members of her family (*cough*Kim*cough*) and that she doesn't wear tons of makeup.

2. She has great style.

Kendall always looks fabulous and has her model off duty look down pact.  Her style ranges from edgy to girly to bohemian and more, making her a fashion chameleon.  She is definitely someone to look to for style inspiration when putting together an outfit.

3. She is seemingly the most calm member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan.

If you watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians then you've probably noticed that Kendall isn't as crazy as the rest of her family.  She seems to be more shy and reserved, which I think is a good thing for her!

4. She is a hard worker.

Kendall has been busting her butt with modeling.  She can often be seen running around on castings, traveling, and on photo shoots.  She has been putting a lot of time into her career and it seems to be really paying off.  

5. She is an accomplished model.

She was a fixture on the catwalks during numerous fashion weeks, and has booked campaigns such as Givenchy, which are great accomplishments. In addition to the aforementioned Kendall has been on the cover of multiple magazines, which is huge.  

6. She takes risks.

Kendall isn't afraid to take risks for her career.  She has gotten naked in the name of fashion quite a few times, and knows that nude can be tasteful.  I like that she's stuck to high fashion jobs and has taken the necessary risks for them.

7. She has tried to separate herself from famous family in order to work in the high fashion world.

I like that Kendall doesn't like to use her name to book jobs.  In the snippet above it explains how she prefers to go by Kendall instead of Kendall Jenner to separate herself from her famous family so that she can get jobs on her own.  Now we all know that she does get jobs because of who she is, but I like that she is trying to do her own thing and forge her own path.

8. She has fun.

It seems like Kendall loves what she does, loves her family, and loves her life.  It's awesome that she has fun working hard and doing what she wants to do.  Happiness is the best measure of success and how could she not be happy with the life she has?
