Favorite Moment USA Women's Gymnastics Wins Team Gold in Rio

I love the Olympics and have so much fun watching them.  Women's Gymnastics is my favorite sport to watch and I was so excited when the team won the gold medal!  I was also so happy to see Simone Biles and Aly Raisman won gold and silver individual medals too!  These girls work so hard and it's incredible to see it all come to life at the Olympics.

Favorite Artist Jenn Meador

I came across Jenn Meador's paintings on Pinterest and fell in love with them.  She paints gorgeous abstract pieces in a beautiful array of colors.  Having one of her pieces would definitely be a dream come true!  You can see more of her work here.

Favorite Celebrity Look Blake Lively in Elie Saab

Blake Lively wore this look back in June for an appearance in New York City.  I am all about blush and nude tones so it's no surprise I love this dress.  Blake is absolutely stunning from head to toe in this look, but that's not really surprising considering she always looks amazing!

Favorite Storage Hacks 12 Storage Hacks for Beauty Buffs with Small Vanities

Since I'm still working on decorating the new house and helping my Mom to organize I've been getting lots of ideas from Pinterest.  This post from Brit + Co has really great bathroom storage ideas for small spaces.  The mason jar craft pictured below was my absolute favorite; I've crafted mason jars for cotton balls and Q-tips before, but the idea of decorating the jar tops is so fun!  If you're looking to organize or expand your storage you need to check out the post.

Celebrity Style Obsession: Emmy Rossum

Emmy Rossum's feminine chic style is seriously lust worthy.  I've always loved Emmy's style, but never realized just how much until I started looking into it further.  I would describe her style as classic and ladylike with a twist.  While she typically sticks to a softer look she's not afraid to add a bit of edge in the form of a leather jacket, a leather dress, or a sexy LBD.  She also isn't one to shy away from bold colors and favors hot pink and red to add a pop to her look.  On the red carpet Rossum goes for full out glam head to toe and always looks gorgeous in a gown or dress.  Her off duty style is equally as beautiful as she typically rocks girly skirts and dress, and occasionally styles a look with jeans.  A big part of Emmy's style is her hair and makeup that always compliments, and never overshadows, her outfit.  She typically either chooses a smokey eye or a bold lip (which is her favorite!) and never mixes the two for soft, yet glamorous looks.  I absolutely love Emmy Rossum's style and will definitely be looking to her for fashion inspiration frequently!  No matter where she always looks amazing and here I have for you my favorite looks she has worn.

Make Your Own Facial Spray

So I'm kind of obsessed with facial spray, I started using it in the winter for extra moisture and seriously cannot get enough of it!  It's been a great way to get an extra dose of hydration after cleansing and throughout the day for my very dry skin.  I also love how it nice it feels (especially in the summer) to give my face a refreshing little spritz whenever I want!  My favorite way to use it though is right after I wash my face to spritz my skin and then applying a facial oil to lock all that moisture in, my skin always looks amazing after I do this.  

I've been using the Mario Badescu Facial Spray and while I really like it, I've been dying to make my own (which isn't surprising considering how much I love DIY beauty).  In my own spray I wanted to use similar ingredients to the Mario Badescu spray, like rosewater and aloe, but also include coconut water and alkaline water.  Rosewater, aloe water, and coconut water are all soothing and super hydrating, which makes them the perfect ingredients for a facial spray.  Alkaline water balances skin's pH, which is especially important after cleansing, and doesn't dry skin out like traditional toners do.  Instead of just plain alkaline water though I decided to use blk water (which is why the spray is a blackish color) because it "infused with naturally black fulvic trace minerals," which "contain an abundance of natural plant sourced nutrients" and makes the spray extra beneficial for skin!  

While this spray isn't the prettiest (thanks to blk water), it is sure to make your skin look gorgeous.  Also don't be afraid that it doesn't smell pretty either because of the way it looks, the only ingredient that is scented is the rosewater so the spray smells like roses.  Below are the ingredients and (really simple) instructions to make this facial spray, which will make a great addition to your skincare routine!

Supplies:

-Small spray bottle

-2 tbsp. rosewater

-2 tbsp. aloe water

-2 tbsp. coconut water

-2 tbsp. alkaline water

-1 tbsp. filtered water

{Note: I used a small spray bottle so you can increase the measurements for a larger one.  To do this add equal parts rosewater, aloe water, coconut water, and alkaline water (ex: 1 cup of each), to one half part filtered water (ex 1/2 cup).}

Instructions:

-Combine rosewater, aloe water, coconut water, alkaline water, and filtered water in a spray bottle.

-Gently shake.

-Spritz on face after cleansing and before moisturizing, to set makeup, and throughout the day for a boost of hydration.

Beauty Review: Function of Beauty Shampoo & Conditioner

Function of Beauty is a company that makes custom shampoos and conditioners formulated for each individual customer.  In a world where beauty products are typically mass produced, whether you purchase them at a salon, Sephora, or the drugstore, Function of Beauty's unique approach is refreshing.  Moreover, they have made customized beauty affordable and therefore more attainable for the masses, which I think is amazing!

To help create your custom shampoo you start by filling out a questionnaire on the Function of Beauty website.  The questionnaire asks about your hair type (straight, wavy, curly, or coily), your hair structure (fine, medium, or coarse), your scalp moisture (dry, normal, or oily), and your hair goals (there are a lot of options including deep condition, volumize, shine, and strengthen).  You also get to pick out the color and fragrance of the shampoo and conditioner, and name it after yourself!  I filled out my questionnaire and my hair goals were to replenish, strengthen, hydrate, and lengthen my hair, and to fight frizz.  I also chose pink for both my shampoo and conditioner, and chose passion fruit papaya for the fragrance.

I was so excited when my custom shampoo and conditioner came about a week after I ordered them.  The first thing I noticed was their adorable packaging, I'm not going to lie I love the idea of having my name on a beauty product!  The one downside I found about the packaging though is the pump bottles; you need a lot of shampoo to get a lather and it can be kind of a pain to pump the bottle over and over in the shower.  However, once I do get enough shampoo I think it cleans my hair well without drying it out or striping it of its moisture.  The conditioner moisturizes my hair nicely, but I do wish it had a thicker consistency; I prefer a thick conditioner so this kind of feels more like a cream rinse to me because it is lightweight.  One of my favorite parts about these though is the way they smell, they're super sweet and almost candy like, which I haven't found in hair products before!

Overall I'm happy with the Function of Beauty custom shampoo and conditioner, however the next time I think I would make a few tweaks to my questionnaire and hopefully get a thicker conditioner.  The great thing is that you can add notes for the chemist that is making your products and tell them about what you want to change.  You can also chat with a chemist so they can answer any questions you might have about the products.  I think that the people over at Function of Beauty really want to work with customers to make sure they are happy with their products and to help them improve their hair.  I recommend giving Function of Beauty a try because they have quality products and in my opinion getting your own custom shampoo and conditioner is too fun to pass up!

Favorite Accessory Loess Leather Wrap Clutch

I came across this clutch on Pinterest and fell in love with it.  It is so beautifully constructed and the leather looks like butter.  I especially love the color though because nude accessories are my favorite!  This would definitely make a great addition to anyone's closet.

Favorite Summer Sweet Treat Champagne Popsicles

Champagne is my favorite and popsicles are perfect for summer, which makes this yummy recipe a favorite of mine this week!  I have to make a few tweaks to the recipe because of my food allergies, but the general idea of champagne and fruit popsicles has me swooning.  My kitchen is currently under construction, but once it's done I will be making these with my Zoku.

We recently moved and I am all about light and airy home decor just like this room!  I chose white walls and blonde wood floors for my bedroom so I was really excited when I came across this picture.  This is the perfect inspiration for the space I want to create.

Favorite Kitchen Item Le Creuset Pans in Hibiscus

I recently saw that Le Creuset came out with a new color, Hibiscus, which happens to be my favorite shade of pink.  I've always loved admiring Le Creuset's beautiful pots and pans and now I love them even more.  The only downside (other than the price tag of these beauties) is that they are so heavy!  When I showed my Mom this gorgeous dutch oven we were joking that I could only ever use it for decoration because it would be way too heavy for me to actually cook with!

Favorite Look Metallic Sweater and Suede Mules

This easy, neutral look is perfect for summer.  The color of the sweater and mules here is gorgeous and both would be great for any wardrobe.  I especially like how they are styled here with denim cutoffs and rose gold jewelry.  This is a beautiful and simplistic look that serves as outfit inspiration for a cool summer day.
