Kristin's Going to Change the Title Anyway So It Doesn't Really Matter What I Make It

Like I mentioned yesterday, I've asked for some help with blogging this week.  Today I have a post by my younger sister Bridget (& yes that's what she titled this in her email to me!).  If you've seen any of my posts with my sister in them then you know her & I are really close, so needless to say I am so excited to have her here today.  Bridget has a great sense of style, & she is going to share some of it with all of you!  Without anymore of my babbling here she is:

Hello! My name is Bridget Thompson, I am Kristin's little sister. She has been asking me to write a blog post for a while so I figured why not? I'm not into baking & crafting like Kristin is, (I just reap the benefits!) but I do like fashion. Today I'm going to talk about how I love dark colors (my favorite color is black, I know it's a little bizarre!). However, before I jump into that, I have a little Q&A so you can get to know me!

Where do you go to school?
Rosemont College, which is conveniently less then five minutes away from Villanova!

What is your guilty pleasure?
Spending way too much time on Tumblr & watching way too much Netflix!

What is your favorite dessert?
Hmm...this is a tough one because I love sweets! I really love chocolate cake with whipped cream icing!!

Coffee or tea?
Both!!! I love both equally & can't go a day without either a cup of coffee or tea!

Sun or Snow?
Hands down sun!!!! I am obsessed with the beach, swimming, riding my bike, and all the fun things that only come in the sun!

So now that you know me a little better, let's get down to business. My style differs from Kristin's a bit, I'm a more edgy, & (as I said) dark colors are my favorite fashion colors. I love blacks, greys, dark purples, maroons, dark greens, & more, the darker the better. I love bright colors on other people, but to be totally honest they just aren't for me. I even go as far as only painting my nails dark colors (I'm sometimes a little more adventurous with with a pedicure!)! Since I love everything dark when it comes to fashion, I decided to share some style picks in that palette.

Dress: Topshop  /  Coat: my  /  Nail Lacquer: OPI Lincoln Park After Dark  /  Boots: Steve Madden
Heels: Rihanna for River Island  /  Sweater: IHeart  /  Leggings: Mimi Chica

These are all things that I will be spotted wearing this winter.  Lincoln Park After Dark is my favorite nail polish out there!  I hope that this will inspire everyone to wear some more dark pieces!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A big thanks to Bridget for doing this great post!  I love all of her picks & will have to take a walk on the dark side soon.  I'm glad that you were also able to 'meet' my sister this week.  I really appreciate these guest posts & hope you guys are enjoying them!  I'll be back tomorrow with a quickie Five on Friday.

Celebrity Style Obsession: Olivia Palermo

She played the villain in MTV's The City, & was the ultimate big city b*tch to Whitney Port a new to New York, friendly California girl.  Olivia Palermo was conniving, sneaky, & always impeccably dressed.  She is an Upper Eastside Princess, who grew up, & dressed just like the characters of "Gossip Girl".  Olivia has access to the best of everything, & she certainly takes advantage of this when it comes to fashion.  She's developed a reputation for always looking ubër chic, & that reputation is well deserved.  Palermo favors prim looks, but from time to time will throw in a game changer like moto boots paired with a fur vest, or a hippie-esque skirt.  She loves a good skinny pant, & will often add an unexpected touch to her outfit whether it be a unique accessory or a mix of prints that she always pulls off.  From what we saw of her on The City Olivia might not have the best personality, but she does have the best style.

(P.S. Over New Years Olivia got engaged to her longtime boyfriend & I cannot wait to see what she wears on her big day!)

Which of Olivia's looks is your favorite?

Post From My Bestie

So this week is sorority rush at my school.  From today until Sunday is going to be insane for me so I figured I would ask for a little help with blogging this week.  My best friend of forever was so sweet & wrote a post for me to share with all of you!  Shannon has the prettiest curly hair & she takes amazing care of it, & as someone with pin straight here I've always be in awe of her perfect ringlets.  Today she is going to share some curly hair care tips, which is perfect because this is something that I could not do!  Without any further ado here is Shannon:

Hello everyone! I am Kristin’s best friend! We have been friends since we were babies!

Anyways she asked me to do a guest spot on her blog and I decided to give some insight on curly hair! I have been blessed with curly hair and have taken years to learn how to control it! The major key with curly hair is moisture moisture moisture! Especially in these dry winter months! I have tried endless products and have finally found some that work for me! I use Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner…it is super moisturizing and leaves my hair so soft! I also try not to wash my hair everyday…I used to think that doing that was gross but it has seriously saved my hair this year! I try to wash every two days or so! Right after a shower I love to use Aussie Leave in Conditioner to give my curls a little extra spritz of moisture, I then follow up using a wide toothcomb, and after that I use Redken Curvaceous Full Swirl. I then let my curls air dry to reduce frizz. On days where I don’t wash my hair, I tend to rock a top knot or pull my hair back into a low bun. I have also heard that sleeping with your hair on top of your head and spritzing it with some watered down conditioner in the morning can help reform your curls for another glamourous day! Having curly hair is something girls should be proud of! Hopefully these tips will help some of you girls!

A huge thank you to Shannon for doing this post for me!  I'm so glad that you could all 'meet' my bestie & I hope her great tips can help any of my curly haired readers.  Have a great day!

East Coast Chic-From North to South: Sequins

Today I am so excited to be collaborating with Whitney aka The Retail Therapist!  Whitney is super sweet, so gorgeous, & has incredible style, if you haven't stopped by her blog you are seriously missing out.  We've decided to start a new series "East Coast Chic-From North to South," that was inspired by something I saw on Coffee Beans & Bobby Pins.   For this series we are going to pick an outfit "theme" (for lack of a better word), each style it our own way, & then link our posts.  Our theme for today is sequins.  While a lot of people associate sequins with the holidays, it is not the only time they can be worn.  Here Whitney & I show you two different ways to incorporate them into your outfit throughout the winter; I in a full sequin skirt, & Whitney in in a sweater with sequin accents.  Both of these looks are perfect for a party, date night, or a night out with your girls!  Make sure to stop by & visit Whitney to see more pictures of her outfit.  (I wanted to take pictures outside, but it was 30 degrees with a chance of snow this day.  I tried to do it, but when I went outside a big gust of wind came & it was just way too cold to be outside, especially without tights!  The Christmas tree looked so pretty so I couldn't resist taking the pictures in front of it instead!)

Frosty Friday

{1.}
New Skin Care Routine
Lately I've been doing a new skin care routine that has been working great.  I really recommend trying it.  The routine is a little unorthodox, but it has taken my dry & [semi] broken out face & made it moisturized & blemish free.

Skin Care

Morning
I massage coconut oil onto my dry face; I massage it in a slow circular motion for about a minute.  I then take a wash cloth & run it under very warm water (not too hot!), I tip my head back & place the wash cloth on my face for 30 seconds allowing the steam to open my pores.  After the steaming I take the wash cloth & wipe off the coconut oil, I do this by wiping very gently in a circular motion; to finish I splash my face with water & pat dry.  I then put witch hazel on a cotton ball & wipe my face with it.  I finish with an Aveeno Smart Essentials Daily Nourishing Moisturizer.

Bedtime
I first remove all of my makeup with a makeup removing wipe.  I then wet my face & apply the Proactiv Renewing Cleanser & use my new Olay ProX Facial Cleansing Brush.  After I rinse & dry my face, I use the Revitalizing Toner.  When the toner dries I apply a generous amount of CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion or if my skin is feeling a little dry I will apply coconut oil instead of lotion.

{2.}
Pinterest Obsession
Lately I have been obsessed with pinning to my 'Stylish' board on Pinterest.  There just so many amazing looks, & it's such a great place to get outfit inspiration.  These are some of my recent pins.

Old Pictures
So I turn 22 in less then three weeks, which is just crazy!  I'm working on something for a birthday post & figured I'd give a little teaser with some old pictures of me.
-Top left I the giant baby am pictured with family friends (remember them from here?).

-Top right I'm with two friends in a park near my house, one is my best friend who I've posted about before

-Bottom right I'm about 3 or 4, playing with my toys.

-Bottom left I'm pictured with my baby cousin when I was in middle school.

It is always fun to go through old pictures!  I love having all the documentation of what I've done in life, & some of them are just so funny.  I can't wait to share my birthday post with all of you!

Favorite Posts About 2014
Right now there are so many posts going around New Year Resolutions & future goals.  I've read quite a few of them myself & these are my 3 absolute favorite.  I really love each of their unique goals & thoughts on the New Year.

Also make sure to check out my resolution post: Looking Ahead

Snow
There is a reason we're calling today 'Frosty Friday,' the snow is crazy where I live!  We've definitely had a blizzard.  I love the snow, & I have full intentions of enjoying my snow day (even though I'm on break so it's not really a snow day for me)!  There is some baking & movies in my near future.

As of last night this was what weather.com was reporting for our weather:

How's the weather where you live?  Do you get a snow day today too?

Have a great weekend!

Red Carpet Style Star: Allison Williams

Well we all know that Allison Williams has great hair, but the girl's got incredible style too.  She started getting serious notice when her hit show "Girls" came out, & since then Allison has proved herself to be quite a style standout, especially among her costars.  She alternates between long gowns, & short & sassy mini dresses.  Williams does not shy away from colors wearing hot pink, cobalt blue, & emerald green among others, but always respects the power of a black dress.  She has been praised by fashionistas all around for her versatile & spot on style, especially on the red carpet.  Pictured are some of my favorite looks that Allison Williams has worn.
Which is your favorite look?

New Year's Day

I cannot believe it's 2014!  Happy New Year & I hope everyone had a great night!  After a late night it is a good day to get some R&R, so I've put together a list of must haves for a relaxing New Year's Day.

Sweater: Topshop  /  Leggings: Jack Wills  /  Boots: UGG Australia  /  Earrings: Vince Camuto

A cozy look is best after a night out.  Whether you have to run errands or can just hang out today you will be comfortable & chic in an outfit like this.  Lately I have been loving Fair Isle print leggings & the color of this pair is so pretty.  Pair your legging with an oversized sweater & UGGs, & you are good to go!

Here I've put together a list of hangover essentials that will come in handy today.  Since alcohol dehydrates you, you want to drink lots to replenish the lost liquids, Gatorade, Smartwater, Emergen-C, & tea will help with this.  You also want to externally hydrate your skin with moisturizer, eye cream, & lip balm.  You can even treat your eyes with Visine & a gel pack to reduce dark circles, puffiness, & red eyes.  Pepto Bismal will help with any stomach problems & Tylenol will ward off a hangover headache.  The Late July crackers pictured here are so good, they're an organic version of Saltines (but better) & will also help with stomach!  I included band aids & a nail file in case there were any mishaps last night, I know that I've woken up after a night out to find a broken nail or a cut.  Finally there's little toothbrushes to really freshen your breath.

If all else fails (or you just want one) have a mimosa, it's the hair of the dog!  Now that you're dressed & have worked on getting rid of your hangover, you need to relax & enjoy the day.  Gather some movies, magazines, & candles (my favorites are pictured here!) & spend the day cuddling on the couch!

On a different note I want to thank everyone that comes here & follows along on this journey with me.  Joining the blogging world has been an amazing thing & it means the world to me that everyone has been so supportive.  I'm so looking forward to continuing this adventure with all of you & have a feeling that 2014 is going to be great.  I hope everyone has an amazing day (& year!)!  Lots of love!
