Beauty Review: Lush Brazened Honey Face Mask

Over the summer I was having issues with breakouts on my forehead and along my hairline, I tried just about everything with no luck then I read about a "miracle face mask" on Refinery29 and had to try Lush's Brazened Honey for myself.  The mask is loaded with fresh ingredients including honey, lime oil, kaolin clay, almonds and more.  These ingredients work to give your pores a really deep clean, while moisturizing so your skin doesn't get dried out.  I love Lush's natural approach to beauty and watched this awesome video about how they make the mask in their kitchen.  Brazened Honey is so fresh it has to be stored in the refrigerator and I really love that it goes on cold because of it; it's a nice way to decompress after a long day.

After you take your mask out of the fridge you want to smooth a thick layer of this grainy stuff all over your face and let it sit for about ten to fifteen minutes.  I have to warn you the mask has an interesting and very distinct scent (my Mom even mentioned the smell still lingering in the bathroom the mornings after I would use it), but in my opinion it's worth dealing with the scent for the short period of time for the results it delivers.  Every time I used it my typically large pores seemingly disappear and seriously tighten up.  It also really works to get out anything stuck in your pores, giving you the deepest of cleans.  Adding this into my skincare routine definitely helped to clear up the persistent breakouts I was experiencing.

The only downfall to the mask for me was that it contains almonds, something I'm allergic to.  I'm ok with using nut products on my skin, but tend to shy away from them incase I somehow accidentally ingest them or get them in my mouth.  I was pretty desperate to clear up my skin so I used this regardless of the possible allergic reaction, which probably wasn't my brightest idea.  I was super careful every time I used it washing my hands multiple times, changing the towels I wiped my face with, and completely cleaning up the sink area when I was done with the mask, but it was honestly quite the ordeal for a face mask.  If I wasn't allergic to nuts I would use this all the time, but I probably won't purchase again (unless I'm having a major skin emergency) just because it makes me nervous.  If you don't have a nut allergy though I highly recommend trying this, your skin will love you for it!
