Beauty Behind the Blog: Pineapple & Prosecco

Today I have with my third installment of Beauty Behind the Blog with an interview of Danielle from Pineapple & Prosecco!
Name: Danielle
Age: 28

THE BASICS
Who taught you about beauty?
My beauty icons (Bridget Bardot and Lauren Conrad), magazines and myself! I’ve done a lot of experimenting over the years, but have refined my style through lots of reading and learning.

What is your favorite thing about beauty?
Inner confidence; I love the way that a new shade of lipstick or fresh color on my hair has the ability to make me feel beautiful.

Do you have a favorite beauty blogger?
Not at the moment!

What is your best beauty secret?
Mixing an illuminizer in with my foundation for glowing skin. It’s such an easy addition into my routine and gives me that dewy look all year long.

Do you create any DIY beauty products?
Do I create any DIY beauty products? I have. Did they come out how I had hoped? That’s a story for another day.

What is your favorite natural beauty product?
Coconut oil! I love that it’s a multi-use product and utilize it for everything. I recently tried out Kopari Beauty, which is a line dedicated to all-things coconut and I can’t get enough!

SKIN
What is your skin type?
Normal-Dry

What is your basic skincare routine?
In the morning, I rinse with cool water and moisturize. I used to use a gentle cleanser in my morning routine, but I’ve learned that as long as you go to bed with a clean face, the oils that build up overnight are actually really healthy for your skin! I might recommend using a cleanser though if your skin type is oily.

At night, I deep clean with my Clarisonic and a cleanserthen moisturize. I should be using an eye cream, but I feel so overwhelmed with the abundance of choices out there! Any recommendations?

What is your biggest skin issue?
Fine lines and skin damage. I grew up on the beach and cared more about a tan then preserving my fair skin as a teenager and can definitely see the effects now that I’m in my late-20s.

What are your must have skincare products?
One of my early beauty posts on my blog was actually about the three skincare products I can’t live without, and I still stand by them 100%! St.Ives moisturizer, my Clarisonic and Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.

What is your favorite skincare splurge?
To be honest, I keep it really simple when it comes to skincare! Both my routine and the products I use work for me and I don’t see any reason to change them! Plus, it leaves me more to spend on clothing.

What is the first thing you do when you get a breakout?
I very rarely get breakouts but when I do I will get the pimples that form deep under your skin (aka the worst kind, usually when it’s that time of the month). I use a hot compress and *try* to let it run its course.

MAKEUP
What is your everyday makeup look?
I’ve got my work-week makeup routine down to a science! After cleansing and moisturizing, I apply a small amount of primer to my face. I follow this with foundation mixed with an illuminizer and some under-eye concealer, all blended with a beautyblender. I use setting spray and since I use a liquid foundation/illuminizer combo, I usually take a quick break to let it dry and style my hair or pick out my outfit for the day. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz is a life-saver when it comes to filling in the sections of my brows that just don’t want to grow in. Next, I dust on some bronzer and blush, then finish with a liquid liner cat-eye, mascara (when I’m in between eyelash extensions) and a neutral lip.

What is your go to makeup look when you go out?
I follow the exact same routine as above for my face, except that I will usually use a bit more foundation and some highlighter on my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. I’ve never worn a colored eyeshadow in my life outside of bronzes and charcoal neutrals. When it comes to my eyes, I’ll usually do a very neutral smoky eye with a mix of bronzes and golds, and then line my bottom lids with a brown shadow. I’ll also opt for a bolder lip depending on the occasion.

What are your must have makeup products?
Illuminizerhydration spray (also can be used as primer and setting spray, I keep this in my bag with me at all times and use it when my skin is feeling dry or I’m feeling a little sleepy), and a good lipbalm!

What is your favorite makeup splurge?
Mac Lipsticks! I have way too many colors.

What is your best makeup trick?
I have so many! One of my most-used tricks is applying a translucent powder over my lipstick to ensure that it stays on all day.

HAIR
What is your hair type?
Thick and straight.

What is your basic hair care routine?
Last year, I chopped 10 inches off my hair, so my hair routine has changed quite a bit from what it used to be! One thing that hasn’t changed is how I wash and condition; I typically wash and condition every other day. I apply a second coat of conditioner to my ends, which keeps them super soft (I also do this because my hair is bleached and can easily get dried out).

What is your biggest hair issue?
My roots! Surprisingly, so many people are shocked to find out I am not naturally blonde, but a very dark brunette. I’ve been blonde since I was 15!

What are your must have hair products?
Wella and Biolage shampoos and conditioners, my T3 hairdryer (which is life-changing, by the way! My dry time went from forty minutes to ten), and flyawaytamer.

What is your favorite hair care splurge?
Going to see my hairdresser! I’ve been with my hairdresser for over 15 years, to give you a little idea about how much I love her work and trust in her opinions. Coloring my hair does not come cheap, but it’s worth every penny!

How do you style your hair everyday?
When my hair was super long, I’d use a 1.5” barrel curler to give myself some loose curls. Now that it’s shorter, I use a 0.5” curler and wrap the ends around it for natural-looking beachy waves. I have always been complimented on my hair and I think the secret is not to think too much about it! There’s really no rhyme or reason to styling; I actually don’t use any products in my hair except for blow-dry cream for heat protection and only spend about 5-10 minutes curling! In my opinion, the more natural-looking, the better.

How do you style your hair when you're going out?
The same way I do day-to-day.

What is your best hair trick?
Brushing the conditioner out of my hair in-shower. For all of you who struggle with knotty hair and haven’t tried this, your life is about to change! Not only does this help to disperse the conditioner evenly throughout your hair, but it saves so much detangling time once you’re out of the shower.

BATH AND BODY
What is your basic body care routine?
I use a gentle cleanser followed by lotion (especially on my legs after shaving!). In the warmer months, I will use a self-tanner weekly.

What are your must have body products?
Vanilla coconut everything from Sabon (especially their vanilla coconut body scrub!)

What is your favorite body product splurge?
St. Tropez self-tanning products.

What is your basic approach to nutrition and dieting?
My diet and nutrition could be better, as I’m sure most of us would say, but I'm pretty good about eating clean. My husband and I have our own garden and love growing all kinds of veggies. When our garden is out-of-commission in the winter months, we try to buy organic.

We both love cooking and don’t do it nearly as much as we used to because of our new schedules. We used to cook every single night (except Friday’s) and now it’s more like 2-3 nights a week, which I hate…but that’s life, right?

I don’t believe in dieting. Instead, I believe in simply eating as natural and non-processed as possible (because there definitely are days when I can’t get enough Tate’s chocolate chip cookies and ice cream) and making the time to cook balanced meals (even if it’s only a few days a week!).

What is your current workout routine?
Oh, my favorite topic! Not. I wouldn’t call it a routine because it’s not consistent, haha. Growing up and throughout college, I was that girl who could eat 5,000 calories a day and not gain a pound. I am definitely envious of my former self because I am not that girl anymore! Once I hit 25, I started to learn that working out is a thing that I’m going to have to do if I wanted to maintain my figure. When I’m in a phase where I’m really dedicated to a workout, I’ll do strength training for one muscle group a day, followed by 20-30 minutes of cardio five days a week. I’ll reiterate that, that’s when I’m really dedicated to a workout! Other days, my workout routine consists of Bravo and ice cream.

A huge thank you to Danielle for sharing a look into her beauty routine!  Do you use any of the same products?  Let me know below!
